Heart of Gold Project 4. An excerpt from 'Le Triomphe De L'Amour' 2007 -by Tarryn Gill & Pilar Mata Dupont

This work took the 1960s dance spectacles of Jiang Chiang (a.k.a. Madame Mao) and transposed them into a battle between the archetypal Australian larrikin/outlaw and the lawmaker, the symbol of colonial rule. Another major influence in the aesthetic of this piece is the early film-work of Leni Riefenstahl, who made Triumph of the Will for Hitler.
This work consists of film documentation of a performance we workshopped with two dancers: Chloe Potter and Bryony Humphreys in July 2007. This work differs from previous work as it is narrative based and has been performed on site in the Wheat-belt, Western Australia, rather than on a designed stage. Thea Costantino is involved in this project as co-writer. Music by Ash Gibson Grieg. Technical assistants/cinematographers/editors: Justin Barnes and Lee Davis.
